31-Bay Modular Build for Tunnelling Project
Cleveland Modular provided a 28-bay facility and a 3-bay emergency response building to support the construction of a major tunnelling project in the North East of England.
STRABAG UK provides full construction services, from design and planning to commissioning and operations, to major infrastructure schemes and complex ground engineering projects.
STRABAG UK are the contractors responsible for the tunnel construction on the Anglo American Woodsmith Project, which is the development of a state-of-the-art polyhalite fertiliser mine based two miles south of Whitby in the North York Moors National Park. It will set new standards for sustainable mining while helping to boost food production and sustainable farming practices.
For this project, our Cleveland Modular team supplied a large 28 bay single storey facility that houses the engineering team. The building serves multiples purposes and features office, canteen, and drying areas, as well as toilet and shower facilities.
Positioned alongside the 28 bay office building, sits a smaller 3 bay single storey building used solely by the emergency response team as a base to monitor work within the mine and for the quick deployment of staff and equipment in the event of an incident.
Multiple ancillary items were supplied as part of our ‘Boost Your Space’ service, providing both structures with the following:
- Fire alarm
- Emergency lighting
- Air conditioning
- Dehumidifiers to drying rooms
- IT installation/provision
All units were painted RAL6008 (Sherwood Green) to comply with local planning requirements, along with black out windows as the site overlooks a caravan park.
